Scottish Gold

Ellis is thrilled to be able to offer bespoke, one of a kind pieces, created from Scottish Gold. Scottish Gold is a rare and finite resource; discovered and carefully excavated in the Highlands of Scotland, then alloyed for strength and stability in our London Studio.

Get in touch with us at hello@ellismhairicameron.com to find out more about commissioning a piece in Scottish Gold.

Similar to metal detecting, gold panning is slow and requires patience. Every flake we collect is extremely valuable; not just for its material worth, but because of the story it carries.

Once we have the raw material, it goes through a careful transformation in our London studio. We clean and refine it, removing any impurities, and then alloy it to prepare it for making. From there, we shape and form it using traditional goldsmithing techniques, working by hand to ensure each detail is just right. The end result is a finished piece of jewellery that’s made with care and holds a strong connection to the land.

Our process honours both the material’s past and its new life as something to be worn and treasured.

We travelled with Jessica Diamond, watch and jewellery director at the Sunday Times Style and jewellery director at The Times Luxx and Times Luxury online, to the Scottish Highlands to show her our gold panning process.
