Sourced through gold panning in the Highlands of Scotland, Scottish Gold is among the most precious materials we work with. Its scarcity gives it an inherent exclusivity, while its origin makes each piece deeply connected to place, heritage and the landscape that has long shaped Ellis’ work.
There is something particularly meaningful about creating a jewel from gold found in Scotland itself. Rather than simply being a precious metal, it carries a sense of provenance; a tangible connection to the land, transformed into something personal and enduring.

Similar to metal detecting, gold panning is slow and requires patience. Every flake we collect is extremely valuable; not just for its material worth, but because of the story it carries.
Once we have the raw material, it goes through a careful transformation in our London studio. We clean and refine it, removing any impurities, and then alloy it to prepare it for making. From there, we shape and form it using traditional goldsmithing techniques, working by hand to ensure each detail is just right. The end result is a finished piece of jewellery that’s made with care and holds a strong connection to the land.
